The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music

I have been thinking about unusual and past examples of upcycling. One particular illustration came to mind. Think back to the movie, The Sound of Music (if you haven’t seen it, please do). Maria (Julie Andrews) becomes a nanny for seven children. The Von Trapp family. At one point in the movie, she’s asked where were the play clothes for the children. Come to find out, they didn’t own any. Fast forward to the curtains in her room. Her curiosity is sparked and she makes play clothes for the children from the curtains. What an amazing experience to behold! True up cycling on the big screen in 1965! Talk about keeping material out of landfill. Please see the pictures below.
