Remember a prior post I wrote where I mentioned I was going to explore 8 different topics? No? Go back and read it. However, if you are short on time, this will be educational. Sustainable Fashion, how can you make a difference to save the planet?
Conscious Fashion – consumers’ role.
Well, I have to admit, I am pissed off. Really pissed off. While thrifting is absolutely helping the world – less landfill – how do you wrestle with the idea that your fast fashion goes to thrift stores? Oh my GAWD, What then? WHY WHY WHY? Can we just stop fast fashion at the source? No, after much research, I (re)learned that these Social Media ‘influencers’ are embarrassed to be seen in an outfit more than once. EXCUSE ME?! I am beyond… I can’t. Though, I understand. When I was growing up, I didn’t have a lot of clothes (Catholic School girl) and I re-wore my play clothes nearly every day. I wasn’t self-conscious until we had free dress days. Tug at my 11-year-old heart. So, yes I understand. I would’ve been right there in that fast fashion world. However, it never occurred to me to be embarrassed about wearing the same outfit more than once. I am baffled. Today, I still, rewear my outfits. Can you explain this to me?
So now, think about this. The fast fashion is ending up in the thrift stores and then …? Don’t you think these influencers need to hit up the thrift stores or is that too much of the same thing as the other girl? Gah.
