Staggering Statistics

The statistics are staggering. We have become a very wasteful society. In the United States ONLY, about 85% of our clothing and textiles are disposed of as trash and end up in landfills, while only 15% are donated or recycled.
In the past 20 years, the number of unwanted clothing Americans throw away each year has doubled from 7 million to 14 million tons, or a startling 80 pounds per person. WHAT???? Despite the fact that clothing and other textiles are reused and recycled at low rates, nearly 95% of these materials are suitable for reuse and recycling. Let’s do it!
Sell your gently-used clothing, accessories, and shoes on an online resale marketplace. Platforms like Poshmark, thredUP and The Real Real and local consignment stores help you keep your clothing and accessories out of the trash, recoup some of the money you spent on the items, and give them new life with a new owner.
